I am delighted to take on the role of Editor-in-Chief for US Neurology and would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. I am currently Professor and Division Chief of Neuromuscular Disorders at the Department of Neurology at Keck Medicine of USC, University of Southern California. I am also the Program Director of the ACGME-accredited Clinical Neurophysiology Fellowship, which trains three physicians each year. As a principal investigator, I have participated in numerous research clinical trials. My clinical and research areas of expertise are in the fields of neuropathy, diabetic neuropathies, neuropathic pain and immune-mediated neuromuscular disorders, such as chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP), multifocal motor neuropathy and myasthenia gravis.

US Neurology is a unique source for presenting meetings and satellite symposium, and also produces very high quality comprehensive review articles by leading authorities in their fields. During the last 2 years I have had the opportunity to work with the managing editor and the technical editors, having published manuscripts in the journal. The support and the constant feedback I received from the managing editor and the technical editors was exceptional. This journal is particularly appealing in its rich web format including the multimedia content, the latter disseminating key concise and valuable information. Articles are peer-reviewed and are published in a timely fashion. This is of significant value to neurologists, whether in academia, or busy astute clinicians and practitioners, providing up-to-date information and new developments in the field.

As neurologists, we have become more and more specialized and tend to focus more on information relevant to our subspecialty. However, and from my own experience, if one looks at the prior editions of US Neurology, one is tempted to read most of the articles that may not constitute one’s subspecialty interest, given the rich nature of material presented, its formatting and relevant key information noted.

US Neurology is open-access and is available e-Pub and print format, as well as being linked to another well respected journal, European Neurological Review, which provide a comprehensive and multifaceted value. The editorial Board ofUS Neurology constitutes an impressive group of individuals, who are key leaders and international authorities in their fields, suggesting great potential for the journal to grow and thrive.

It is important to encourage young physicians in training and junior neurologists and faculty to publish in US Neurology for the reasons noted above, as its readership grows. They will also reap the benefits of timely publication of their research, key data, case reports or other clinical material, sharing it with other readers, creating positive and rewarding feedback.
