Web Address: IFMAD Website

IFMAD (International Forum on Mood and Anxiety Disorders) is a professional organization dedicated to advancing awareness of the latest global developments in mood and anxiety disorders and fostering the exchange of ideas across the international psychiatric community.

Founded in 2000 by Prof. Siegfried Kasper and Prof. Stuart Montgomery, IFMAD is supported by a distinguished scientific committee comprising leading experts in the field. In 2015, Prof. Allan Young and Prof. Eduard Vieta joined the Committee, and in 2024, Prof. Katharina Domschke became the latest addition.

Each year, IFMAD hosts a congress that highlights cutting-edge research and facilitates in-depth discussions on key topics in psychiatry. In 2025, IFMAD will celebrate its 20th edition in Budapest, Hungary, from June 4–6.

We take pride in our tradition of bringing together international experts in a collegial setting, fostering open dialogue between speakers, specialists, and attendees. The interactive atmosphere—both within sessions and during informal networking breaks—encourages rich discussions that extend well beyond the presentations.

This year’s program will feature:

  • New Avenues in the Treatment of Depression and Anxiety
  • Biomarkers of Anxiety and Mood Disorders
  • Treatment of Depression: Aspects Not to Be Forgotten
  • Treatment of Anxiety, Stress-Related, and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorders: State of the Art and Options for Treatment Resistance
  • Depression: Is Serotonin Still Relevant?
  • Treatment-Resistant Depression: Where Are We Now?
  • Neuroplasticity for a New Understanding of Depression
  • Virtual Reality and Digital Interventions

We anticipate a dynamic exchange of knowledge, drawing on the latest research and clinical experiences. With Budapest as our host city, we also look forward to providing a memorable backdrop for professional connections, international collaboration, and a warm reunion of the IFMAD community.
