The Stroke Alliance for Europe (SAFE)
The Stroke Alliance for Europe (SAFE) is a non-profit-making organisation. We are the voice of stroke survivors in Europe, representing a range of stroke support organisations from more than 35 European countries. Our goal is to reduce the number and impact of strokes in Europe: we advocate for better stroke prevention, equal access to treatment, better and more post-stroke care, rehabilitation and long-term support.
The Stroke Action Plan for Europe 2018-2030Â articulated the need for increased research, policy development and resources in life after stroke. To address this unmet need, SAFE launched the European Life After Stroke Forum in 2019. The aim is to create an opportunity at least once a year for those who wish to operate in this area, whether researchers, scientists, medical professionals, health policymakers, advocacy, or support groups, stroke survivors and their carers to come together and share and network.Â
Save the Date!
We are pleased to announce that the fourth in-person European Life After Stroke Forum will take place in Stockholm on 9-10 March 2026. Â
The Forum is a unique event where healthcare professionals, researchers, policymakers and those affected by stroke can come together to address the issues of life after stroke. Our programme will be filled with the latest research, best practice and shared insights with the voices of people with lived experience at its heart.Â
